As the Ashes series captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts worldwide, residents and friends of Riverstone Fulham had the unique opportunity to celebrate the prestigious event. In a delightful gathering at our residence, we were privileged to host the esteemed presence of former England and Kent cricket captain, Chris Cowdrey. His captivating talk, which encompassed insightful commentary on the recent Edgbaston Test, as well as engaging anecdotes from his playing career and broadcasting days, left an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to attend.
Chris Cowdrey, following in the footsteps of his father, Colin Cowdrey, became the second father-son duo to captain the England cricket team. Raised in a cricketing family, Chris received his education at Tonbridge School, where his passion for the sport was nurtured. Over the course of his career, he showcased his skills as an all-rounder while representing Kent for a remarkable 15 years. With his wealth of experience and unique perspective, Chris Cowdrey was the perfect individual to offer us a glimpse into the world of cricket.
Taking on the role of the interviewer was Julian Mercer, one of the founders of Riverstone. Julian skillfully steered the conversation, allowing Chris Cowdrey to amuse, entertain, and enlighten the audience with his wealth of knowledge and engaging storytelling. The interaction between the two was seamless, creating an intimate atmosphere that fostered a deep connection between the cricketing legend and the captivated audience. It was a remarkable experience by the River Thames and I still can’t believe how beautiful it was inside. Thank you to all the staff for being so friendly and giving me such a warm welcome”.
